No, there are excellent public transport links throughout Austria:- buses, trains and coaches. The ski bus stop is only a short 1-2 minute walk away from the apartment, and there is a regular bus service throughout the day. Taxi's are also available in Kaprun and Zell am See. In the summer months it is a common site to see people roller blading, (in training for the start of the winter season) in and around Kaprun, so that is another option for you to consider!

In the summer there are a number of bathing lakes with beaches, the biggest of course being the lake at Zell which you are free to swim in and it has the benefit of being rated as drinking water quality. Our favourite swimming lake in the summer is at Niedernsill, which is not far from Kaprun ( bike, walk, train, car), a lovely clean lake surrounded by mountains. A new spa / pool complex the Tauern-spa-kaprun opened at a cost of 85 million+ Euro. It lives up to its promise of being something special, with indoor and outdoor pool areas, Saunas, spas, treatment rooms and in addition a separate naturist / nude spa area. Our sister blog site at http://austria-spa-world.blogspot.com/ gives further information. Kaprun spa is easily accessible from the apartment by car, bus, cycling, roller blading or by even walking! There are two further fantastic spas in the Gastein valley with thermal waters naturally heated, at Hofgastein and at Bad Gastein. Where in Kaprun is the apartment located?

The apartment is located in a residential area just off the Kaprun by-pass. A supermarket is conveniently very close by. It is in a quiet area. A self employed joiner (Manfred), has his workshop just across from the apartment garden, and there is occasional sawing and work activities. It is generally quiet, but there may odd times when you will hear sawing or work activities during the day. We would ask that you and your party, keep the noise down at night after 09.00 pm and do not cause any inconvenience to our neighbours.

Why an apartment and not an hotel?

Well it is your choice. In an apartment you have the added flexibility of when you get up, when to have meals, whether to have a meal in or out? Its also great for, friends or couples, families with young children, that they can be safely put to bed, while the adults stay up longer. It also gives you the flexibility to get up early and have breakfast up on the mountain, or have a lie in, and at night there is no need to race back for a set time for an an evening meal. Apartments also provide the added convenience for families and friends to holiday together. Come and try a holiday apartment in Kaprun for you and the rest of your family / party.
